Special Environmental Assessments for the onshore and offshore sections of the Eastern Mediterranean (EastMed) Natural Gas Interconnector Pipeline

Special Environmental Assessments were prepared for the land and sea section of the Eastern Mediterranean (EastMed) Natural Gas Interconnection Pipeline for the Special Protection Zones: GR2540007, GR2110004, GR2310015, the Special Conservation Zones GR2540001, GR2110001, GR2310009, GR2310 001 and the Special Protection Zone and Special Conservation Zone GR2330002.

As part of this study:

In the onshore area of the project, specialized fieldwork was conducted to record the flora, the habitat types, the avifauna, the herpetofauna, the chiroptera and the invertebrates, and also to monitor the presence of Wolf and Otter. Besides the conventional visual surveys, automatic cameras, bioacoustics and drones were also used for the recordings.

In the offshore area of the project, specialized fieldwork was carried out from land and sea to record marine mammals and seabirds, as well as to survey known seabird colonies in adjacent areas.
