Appropriate Assessments for Thrace Independent Natural Gas System (INGS)

Project description

Appropriate Assessments were prepared for Thrace Independent Natural Gas System (INGS) in the Natura 2000 sites GR1110006, GR1110007 and GR1110013.

The project includes a floating unit to receive, store, and gasify the liquefied natural gas (LNG), as well as a subsea and onshore natural gas transmission pipeline for interconnection with the National Natural Gas Transmission System.

As part of this study, specialized fieldwork was carried out from sea and air to record marine mammals, sea turtles and seabirds. Particular emphasis was placed on the monitoring of Harbour Porpoise, while hydrophones were used in order to record the overall presence of marine mammals and to assess underwater noise.
