NCC undertakes integrated Ecological Baseline Studies, i.e. biodiversity inventory surveys to provide baseline data for the sustainable design of development programs and projects.

Ecological Baseline Studies focus on biodiversity inventory and monitoring and the identification and mapping of the most sensitive areas for the species of interest in the project area.
The company implements complex and integrated surveys for the systematic recording of biodiversity using innovative methods and combining visual, acoustic and aerial surveys.

NCC has significant experience in preparing ecological studies for large infrastructure projects subject to the environmental permitting process. Having carried out many such studies in cooperation with public authorities and the European JASPERS service, it can support the relevant licensing specifics and requirements at all stages of the process.

During the preparation of the Baseline Studies, the significance of the potential impacts of the construction and operation of the projects is determined in relation to the specific environmental conditions prevailing in the nearby protected areas of the Natura 2000 network.

The company’s expertise in natural environment management issues, combined with its specialized knowledge of the legislative framework and management requirements for the licensing of projects and activities in Natura 2000 sites, allow the technically sound preparation of <>Appropriate Assessments<> that meet the requirements of both the European Directives and the relevant national institutional framework for licensing.

Especially for the Baseline Studies related to Wind parks, the guidelines given by the EU are applied, such as those for the application of impact risk assessment models, the use of telemetry data, and the consideration of cumulative impacts of power lines.

NCC undertakes projects to record and monitor the state of biodiversity on the sites of all types of projects. Environmental monitoring can be carried out at all stages of project implementation: before construction, during construction and during the operation phase (post-construction monitoring). During the implementation of Environmental Monitoring programs, the company uses up-to-date methods, such as telemetry, bio-acoustic systems, hydrophones, thermal cameras and automatic recording systems.

NCC is especially active around the subject of Wind park projects in the implementation of bird monitoring programs, impact victim search programs and surveys of bird species for the calibration and parameterization of the impact prevention systems for wind turbines.
