Dr. Panos Dendrinos is a biologist with over 30 years of specialized experience in ecology, conservation, and management of marine mammals, with a particular focus on the Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus). He has played a key role in promoting scientific understanding and conservation strategies for one of Europe’s most endangered marine species
Dr. Dendrinos has led and contributed to numerous research projects and field studies focusing on marine mammal population dynamics, the identification of critical habitats, and the design and management of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). He has led or contributed to the development of environmental studies, species action plans, and the integration of key marine species and habitats into the Greek Natura 2000 network. His recent work includes participation in aerial and marine surveys of marine mammals for the “LIFE MareNatura – Conservation of priority marine megafauna species in Greece and Italy” program and in major infrastructure and offshore energy projects in Greece.
