He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Wildlife Care Center, the Board of Directors of the Nestos-Vistonida-Ismarida-Thasos Delta Management Agency, a volunteer and member of the Hellenic Ornithological Society. He is an amateur nature photographer.

He participates in research projects on fisheries, biodiversity in inland waters, bird and marine mammal recording, and the management of protected areas as a field researcher. He volunteers in bird recording, ringing, and care activities.

He contributes to scientific publications mainly on the biology and nutrition of seabirds, cormorants, cetaceans, and fish.
