The NCC has undertaken the inventory of the status of important fauna species in the Ionian Sea concession area. To achieve this objective, NCC is conducting:

(a) Pelagic surveys for marine mammals, seabirds and sea turtles, both close to the shore and on the high seas, by means of surveys from a seagoing vessel.

(b) Aerial surveys for marine mammals, seabirds and sea turtles, both close to the coast and on the high seas, through surveys by single-engine aircraft and in combination with surveys by drones.

(c) Coastal surveys for the recording and monitoring of the Mediterranean seal, and the breeding sites of Scopolis Shearwater and European shag, in the coastal zones of the adjacent Natura 2000 sites.

(d) Telemetric monitoring of seabirds and marine mammals in the area using ornithological radar.
